iPhone 18 Pro Max Could Feature Apple’s Biggest Battery Yet, New Leak Suggests

July 7, 2026 by Business News Leave a Comment

Apple may be preparing a significant battery upgrade for its next-generation flagship smartphone, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, according to newly surfaced regulatory filings. If the leaked information proves accurate, the upcoming device could offer the largest battery ever included in an iPhone, bringing it closer to the battery capacities seen in premium Android smartphones.

The rumored upgrade signals a possible shift in Apple’s long-standing strategy of relying on hardware and software optimization rather than simply increasing battery size.

Larger Battery Capacity Reportedly on the Way

Leaked certification documents suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro Max could feature a battery capacity of up to 5,567mAh in the United States, while the version intended for the Chinese market may include a slightly smaller 5,391mAh battery.

The standard iPhone 18 Pro is also expected to receive a modest battery increase, with reports pointing to a 4,288mAh battery for U.S. models and approximately 4,056mAh for units sold in China.

If these figures are confirmed, the Pro Max model would represent Apple’s biggest battery upgrade to date.

Why U.S. Models May Get Bigger Batteries

The reported difference between regional variants is believed to be linked to Apple’s decision to remove the physical SIM card tray from iPhones sold in the United States.

By adopting an eSIM-only design, Apple has freed up additional internal space that can be used for a larger battery. Chinese models continue to include a physical SIM slot, resulting in slightly less room inside the device.

Better Battery Life Expected

A larger battery alone is unlikely to be the only reason for improved endurance. The upcoming iPhone is also expected to feature Apple’s next-generation A-series processor and more power-efficient display technology.

The combination of improved hardware efficiency and a larger battery could deliver noticeably longer battery life compared to previous iPhone models, especially during demanding tasks such as gaming, video streaming and AI-powered features.

Closing the Gap with Android Flagships

While Apple has consistently delivered impressive battery performance through software optimization, many Android smartphone manufacturers have focused on increasing battery capacity over the past few years.

Several flagship Android devices now include batteries exceeding 5,000mAh, making battery size an important selling point in the premium smartphone segment. If the leaked specifications are accurate, Apple would significantly narrow that gap and compete more directly with high-end Android rivals.

Regulatory Listings Add Credibility

The battery information reportedly comes from regulatory certification documents, which have historically provided reliable early details about upcoming smartphones.

Although Apple has not officially confirmed the specifications, industry observers believe the filings strengthen previous supply chain reports suggesting a larger battery for the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Official Launch Expected Later This Year

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 series later this year. Until then, the reported battery capacities remain unofficial, but the latest leaks suggest the company may be placing greater emphasis on battery performance alongside its traditional focus on processing power and software efficiency.

If the rumors prove correct, the iPhone 18 Pro Max could become one of Apple’s longest-lasting smartphones while offering stronger competition against premium Android flagships in the battery performance race.
