Nothing has introduced the Nothing Ear (3a), the latest addition to its wireless audio lineup, bringing a range of AI-powered productivity features alongside upgraded sound quality. The new earbuds are designed not only for music lovers but also for users who frequently attend meetings, lectures and online calls.
The Ear (3a) succeeds the previous Ear (a) model and combines premium features with an affordable price tag.
Audio Snapshot Lets Users Save Sound Instantly
One of the standout features of the Nothing Ear (3a) is Audio Snapshot, a new function that allows users to capture short audio clips in a similar way to taking a screenshot on a smartphone.
By pressing both earbud stems simultaneously, users can instantly save a short recording of ongoing audio. The earbuds automatically include a few seconds before and after the button press, ensuring important context is not missed.
The feature is expected to be particularly useful for lectures, meetings, interviews and voice notes, helping users quickly save important moments without manually starting a recording.
Built-in Call and Meeting Recording
The Ear (3a) also introduces an integrated call and meeting recording feature. Equipped with 32MB of onboard storage, the earbuds can store up to two hours of recorded conversations.
Saved recordings are synchronized with the Nothing X companion app, where users can replay conversations and generate text transcripts for easier reference.
Nothing says participants will be informed whenever call recording is active, adding an extra layer of transparency and privacy.
Improved Sound Quality and Active Noise Cancellation
The new earbuds feature an upgraded 12mm dynamic driver, promising deeper bass, improved vocal clarity and better overall audio performance compared to the previous generation.
Nothing has also enhanced the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) system, which now delivers up to 45dB of noise reduction while covering a wider frequency range. According to the company, the updated ANC offers a noticeable improvement over its predecessor in reducing environmental noise.
Users can also switch to Transparency Mode whenever they need to hear surrounding sounds without removing the earbuds.
Hi-Res Audio and Custom Sound Controls
For audio enthusiasts, the Ear (3a) supports Hi-Res Audio and LDAC for higher-quality wireless streaming. The earbuds also include an eight-band equalizer within the Nothing X app, allowing users to customize sound profiles according to their listening preferences.
Three built-in microphones improve voice clarity during phone calls and virtual meetings.
Battery Life and Fast Charging
Nothing claims the Ear (3a) can provide up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge with Active Noise Cancellation enabled.
The redesigned charging case extends total battery life to 25 hours with ANC turned on, while users can expect up to 42 hours of combined playback when noise cancellation is disabled.
The earbuds also support fast charging, with a five-minute charge delivering approximately one hour of listening time. Three LED indicators on the charging case display the remaining battery level.
Price and Availability
The Nothing Ear (3a) is available for purchase starting July 7 and is priced at $99 (£99) in international markets.
